Grand Adventure for the Grizzlies

by Inga Yandell

A licensed scubadiver and skydiver Andrew Hedgman loves adventure but his first passion is to run. Putting this passion to purspose, Andrew has completed several ultra-marathons in aid of animal welfare, making him a perfect ambassador for wildlife.

On June 30, 2012, Andrew completed a 1000km journey from Brisbane to Sydney to raise funds for the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and his next ‘Grand Adventure’ is for the Grizzlies.

As Ambassador for Wildlife Warriors he will take on Turkey’s Lycian Way Ultra-marathon this September as part of the ‘Dares for Bears’ campaign, raising funds and awareness for the Vital Ground Foundation.

Covering about 250km of the Ancient Lycian Way, which must be completed in six days, the route encompasses a variety of terrains, such as forest, mountains, rocky paths, beaches and steep slopes. Andrew will be running past impressive historical ruins, ancient cities, castles, and amphitheatres during the event.

Andrew’s inspiration is your support of his goal: Help motivate Andrew through this epic challenge by sponsoring a leg of his journey – the goal to raise $2,500 for the bears.

The Vital Ground Foundation helps preserve the threatened grizzly bear, other animals, plants and natural communities through the conservation of habitat and wildlife linkage areas.
